Back in the 1930s few in our community knew government agencies were photographing our neighborhoods from above. Today, we give little thought to the fact that Google and others photograph our properties from the sky and from the street – and our activities throughout the day. Those with drones can get even closer looks at our presumed private daily activities. This image of Newton Lake is from an government aircraft that flew above Greenfield Township, PA on July 2, 1932. In addition to the homes in the Wagner and Shannon & Reynolds developments around the lake, you can see the Newton Lake Amusement Park and the Roller Coaster tracks on the peninsula. The view of the vast farm land throughout the area shows many of Greenfield Township’s original roots.
